I done fucked up my foot again by somehow managing to be a clumsy asshole and twist my ankle while wearing ballet flats, so I probably won't be moving from my computer for a while. Therefore, meme time.
Snagged from
artemisrae: Give me a pairing and a prompt/kink/whatever, and I'll write you a fic that's no longer than three lines sentences long.
And I swear to god I will legitimately answer these prompts this time because it's almost Easter break, I have plenty of homework to avoid doing, and the end result will be less than three sentences. Even I can manage that kind of commitment.

Spring break meme
Mar. 7th, 2011 08:49 pmIt's spring break, I'm stuck at home and it's snowing, and I have nothing to do but work on my thesis. So you know what this means...
Give me a couple of characters/pairing, a quote from a movie, and I'll see what I'll come up with.
No guarantee I'll get to every prompt, but I want to get some writing done during break, so I'll try! All the usual fandoms and such apply.

Character meme
Jan. 12th, 2011 09:17 pmStolen from
artemisrae.
Pick a character and I will give and explain some ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them. Any and all characters welcome ( including ones I haven't written but might know about...)

Writing meme
Nov. 30th, 2010 06:10 pmI'm stuck in a writing rut and I haven't done my favorite writing meme in a couple of months, so have at it.
Give me one of my fandoms, two characters, and an opening line, and I'll (try to) write 100 to 500 words of fic.
All the usual fandoms and ratings apply. Check the tags or recent entries for anything else I've squeed over lately because I'll probably write for that too.

Since everyone else is doing it...
When you see this, post an excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying around. Who knows? Maybe inspiration will burst forth and do something, um, inspiration-y.
And by "works-in-progress," I mean "fics I will go fiddle with when I'm bored but most likely will never get posted."
( Kane Chronicles )
( The Hunger Games )
( Percy Jackson )

Oct. 7th, 2010 01:32 amI can't decide if I hate everything I've written the past couple of weeks because it's
a.) just plain bad
b.) the Facebook RPG is effing with my characterization of Percy and Annabeth big time
c.) self-sabotage because The Lost Hero comes out next week (hommmmmg) and I'm just waiting for Riordan to blow everything I've ever written out of the water and make me like that he's doing it and writing more at this point seems futile
d.) stress of school, the newspaper and everything else getting to me
unrelated Titanic icon is unreleated

Sep. 6th, 2010 03:48 pmMy writing habits are weirdly inconsistent. I find that I switch writing methods every couple of months - sometimes weeks. One month I'll be fine typing away at my laptop and then the next, I need a pen and paper to get the job done first. Or if neither medium is working for me, I switch off between the two until something comes out.
And sometimes I get really picky about the types of mediums I use to write. It's the normal stuff, like I'll switch betwen legal pads or regular notebooks every couple of months, and I'm picky about what sort of pens I'll use, but then it just gets weird.
For insistance, the thing that's bugging me this month? The sound of keyboard I'm working on. My laptop keys just don't have the right sound for writing because they're too quiet. The keyboard I've been getting the most work done on this week? The clunky, sticky old keyboard for the eMac in my office. It makes just the right amount of noise and is at the perfect volume for me to be productive (or at least sound productive, anyway).
I wonder how much of me being picky about everything I use to write is an avoidance technique to not write or how much of it really is just part of how I write. Does anyone else have strange writing habits like this?

Color me curious
Jul. 21st, 2010 11:07 amStill trying to work my way through some of the prompts you guys gave me last time I asked, but writing's just being a pain in the ass. Maybe if I just don't try to write for a few days, it'll come back to me.
And now a meme, snagged from
artemisrae and seen elsewhere.
If you could have me write a fic specifically for you, what would it be like? Fandom, characters/pairing, genre, plot elements, kinks... what's your ideal fic from me?
Anon commenting is on and IP logging is off: there is no shame here, nothing too filthy or crack-laden.

I think I'll just stick with Le Guin for now.
My internship has put me in a serious writing funk, and I need to get my mind off the fail of my
pjo_bigbang. So! To get the creative juices going...
Give me a character or pairing and a prompt, and I'll (try) to write you a little something. I'm in the mood to write Annabeth fic, but I'm open to everything else as usual.

I'm thinking about switching fics for my
pjo_bigbang because Medius keeps getting stalled at a kind of important part and a fic I started working on on the side finally grew some legs and is begging to be written now.
Initially, I was worried the second fic wouldn't hit the 15K minimum, but I'm at 5K now and haven't gotten to the most important bits yet so I think that's a good sign. I'm writing it a bit out of order too - got the beginning and ending almost finished, plus the starts of a couple more middle scenes, so my enthusiasm for it may just die down after all the fun scenes get written.
The second fic is a historical AU at a boarding school... with mermaids. Or merboys, more specifically. ( Yes, my brain has been on crack for a couple months now )
Also, yaaaay new Futurama tonight! Hopefully my roommates decide to shut up before then otherwise I will Not Be Pleased.
And, um, have some Percy/Annabeth deleted scene. With the infamous "you drool when you sleep" line which should have never been cut in the first place because it is AWESOME. Could do without the awkward Annabeth at the end though.

Jun. 10th, 2010 10:55 pmHave made very little progress with my
pjo_bigbang fic in the last couple of days, mostly because I'm bonding with my new roommates and I have a very small window of writing time in-between said bonding and wanting to explore the city. I've got 7,513 out of the 15,000 words I need, but I'm no where near finishing the story and I've got to re-write at least a 1,000 of those words.
Hopefully I'll have enough to give my artist an idea of what the story is supposed to be. If not, sorry I suck in advance?

So I've got a week to write 10,000 words for my fic for
pjo_bigbang.
Yeah, this is what I get for spacing this thing off.
I'm working on the sequel to my AU, Ad Initium, which I'm calling Medius. I planned this as a series of three one-shots, but Medius is already 5K long and I haven't even gotten close to finishing to finish the second "part" yet. I should be able to get this finished pretty fast though, because I have the story pretty well fleshed out. I don't want to jinx it and say it will probably be more than 15K, but it's certainly looking that way.
( Here's a selection for you, 'cause I probably won't be able to post this thing for a while )

I am stealing this meme from
antistar_e because it looks like so much fun.
Give me a person or ship and I will write one sentence of ten genres for them. The genres are:
1. Angst
2. AU
3. Crack!fic Plot
4. Crossover
5. First Time
6. Fluff
7. Humor
8. Hurt/Comfort
9. Smut
10. UST
You know my fandoms and interests, make me write something. :)
And if you haven't submitted prompts (or want to submit more) for the next challenge at
pjo_fic_battle, please head over here and post some. Pretty please?

- The AU where the PJO characters are part of 'gate team on Atlantis. Lt. Percy Jackson is hopelessly in love with alien engineer Annabeth Chase who either doesn't know he exists or just hates him; biologist Dr. Grover Underwood can never go a mission without getting in trouble in some way; everyone is pretty sure Capt. Luke Castellan and Lt. Thalia Grace are having sex but don't have the proof; and Nico just hates everyone, especially the new anthropologist, Rachel Elizabeth Dare, who's gained a reputation for throwing hairbrushes at goa'uld.
- The futurefic where Nico and Rachel run a fortune telling business together since she can predict the future and he Sees Dead People, and end up being psychic detectives for the money. Romance optional.
- The crossover where Sam and Dean go hunting for monsters with Percy, Annabeth and Nico in the Badlands. Currently stalled about 1,500 words in.
- The Percy And Annabeth Have a Kid and Are Disgustingly Cute About It fic.
- The conclusion to that AU where Thalia lives, Luke isn't a traitor, and Percy is a Manhattan teenager oblivious to his immortal hertiage. Currently stalled 4,000 words in.
- The Johanna/Finnick friendship/messed up romance fic for The Hunger Games and the Dan Cahill/Hamilton Holt slash fic for 39 Clues.
