Title: Comparative Anatomy
Rating: PG
Day/Theme: May 3, ankles, elbows, eyes, and thighs
Series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians
Character/Pairing: Annabeth Chase, Percy/Annabeth
Summary: Annabeth is good architect, not a good artist. She wants to improve on that.
Notes: Kind of just barely squeaking this in (it's still May 3 somewhere!) for [livejournal.com profile] 31_days because I got distracted. Just some P/A fluff.

Annabeth’s not great a drawing people )

Thoughts on Books )

Currently reading: I might start Academy 7 by Ann Osterland today. I bought it for 99 cents at work yesterday, and it's short and a quick read, so it might not take that long.

Up next: Both The Serpent's Shadow by Rick Riordan AND Body and Soul by Stacey Kade come out Tuesday, so I'll be snapping those up and adding them to my to-reads list ASAP. Got a lot of projects due at work this week though, so we'll see if I even have time to get to them before the weekend.

What else is on my shelf: Borrowing The Book Thief, The Fault in Our Stars (not the biggest John Green fan, so it might take a while to get to this) and Going Bovine from the Artist Formerly Known As My Roommate. I'd also like to get around to reading A Handmaiden's Tale in one sitting instead of pretending to have read it and paging through it like I did for my Women's Lit class last fall.

And I am extremely troubled by the depths of my attraction to Tyson.

I MEAN, IT'S TYSON )

Also, Alexadra's blonde now. Haters can finally get over themselves. (Or not, in tumblr's case)

Photos were found here and I think they have more set photos as well.

Title: Death's Dare
Rating: R
Characters/Pairings: Rachel/Nico, with appearances from the rest of the cast and the gods
Summary: After an attempt on her life, Apollo decides Rachel needs a bodyguard and who better to take the job than a certain son of Hades? Too bad they're not going to make things easy for each other, especially when it comes to their feelings.
Notes: The alternative chapter titles needs to be, "In Which Exposition Goes To Die." Sorry for the long wait, but I had plot details to hammer out and real life interfered quite a bit with that up until now. I'd like to finish this fic in the next couple of months, so hopefully that long of delay in an update time won't happen any time soon. Thanks to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] saturninepen for looking over this, as usual.

All things considered, Rachel really shouldn’t have laughed. )

She's adooooorable. Also Canadian and I suddenly need more Thalia/Luke in my life.

Anthony Stewart Head to replace Pierce Brosnan as Chiron in Sea of Monsters

I figured some of the adult leads were going to get recast, given that SoM probably has a smaller budget than TLT and didn't do that well at the box office, but I don't care about this one because it's Giles as a centaur guys.

Now all we need is Eliza Dushku as Circe or something and we'll have the Joss Whedon Collection nearly complete.

Books 2012

11. No Rest For The Wicked by Kresley Cole
12. The Death Cure by James Dashner
13. Cinder (Lunar Chronicles #1) by Marissa Meyer
14. Beautiful Chaos (Caster Chronicles #3) by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

16. Bewitching by Alex Finn
17. Crossed (Matched #2) by Ally Condie
18. 39 Clues: The Dead of Night (Cahills vs Vespers #3) by Peter Lerangis

Thoughts on books )

Currently reading: Finally got my hands on The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I'm hoping to have that finished by tomorrow night. I have to have it finished by Thursday, at least, because it's only a seven day loan from the library.

Up next: I bought Fever by Lauren Destefano during my Walmart run last night as well, and I've got Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi to read too. Borrowed Tithe by Holly Black from the library since I need me some Holly Black to fill the hole in my heart until Black Heart comes out in April. Not to mention the books my roommate, er, acquired and passed along for me to read on my Nook.

Buuuuut it might be a while until I get to those books because Spellbound (Hex Hall #3) by Rachel Hawkins and Out of Sight, Out of Time (Gallagher Girls #5) by Ally Carter come out this week. ON THE SAME DAY. Like seriously. Who thought this was a good idea? Which one am I going to read first?!

Title: The Smart Match
Rating: PG-13
Characters/Pairings: Annabeth/Jason and Annabeth/Percy
Spoilers: Just general spoilers for Heroes of Olympus, as usual.
Summary: Jason's supposed to be the one for her. So why is Annabeth drawn to the dark haired son of Neptune instead?
Notes: Wrote a simpler verison of this fic for a tumblr AU meme, then when I tried to re-post it last week, my brain was like, "Nonono, you didn't do a decent enough job, go sit in the corner and re-write." So there you are.

After everything they’ve been through in the last ten years, everyone naturally expects Annabeth to end up with Jason Grace when the saving the world from Kronos bit is all said and done. )

PJO FRIENDING MEME 2012

It's been a while since we've done one of these! New books have come out, new people have joined, but the fandom's gotten a lot quieter, so it's time to get chatting again and make some new friends.

The rules are simple.

- Copy the form below into a comment on this entry.
- Fill out the form and post.
- Comment on other people's posts to talk and become friends!

And when you're done with that, please feel free to cross-post this to your own journal or other communities! The more people who get involved, the better the meme becomes!

also, didn't really how ugly the new comment system was going to make the friending meme, otherwise I would've kept it a lot simpler!

So, uh, casting's moving forward with Sea of Monsters for like reals this time? (MISSI PYLE, WHAT)

I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, I love the cast and I'm excited to see them together again. On the other hand, this movie terrifies me because HOW WILL THEY WRITE AROUND THE FIRST MOVIE and it's so werd because the fandom is in its usual activity coma post-new-book-release phase.

Title: It's All In The Timing
Characters/Pairings: Jason/Reyna
Rating: G
Summary: Jason's not even sure Reyna particularly likes him, but he figures it won't hurt to try.
Notes: Wrote this a while ago for [livejournal.com profile] princesarah for some meme-related fic writing thing on my tumblr and meant to repost it over here since it was longer than a few sentences, but I never got around to it! Enjoy.

Before he was elected praetor, Jason hadn’t paid much attention to the daughter of Bellona. )

Finally got around to finishing series one and two of Downton Abbey, and even though series two was nowhere neary as strong a series one, I love pretty much everything about it.

Except Anna/Bates. I pretty much tuned that drama out by the third episode. I really don't think the writers could think of anything else to come up with besides, LET'S MAKE BATES BE A MATYR AGAIN, OKAY, HE'S JUST THAT GOOD.

Everything else is awesome and perfect and I even liked Edith this series, whaaaat.

brb, getting all the Maggie Smith icons ever.

Title: heat not a furnance
Rating: NC-17
Characters/Pairings: Nico/Rachel
Spoilers: None in particular.
Summary: For all the money they spend on their apartment, a working heater should be easy to find. But no. Nico and Rachel have to find an alternate way to warm up.
Notes: Written for [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis's Porn Battle XIII (Lucky Thirteen) for the prompt Nico/Rachel, leather

It's become an almost absolute certainty that on the coldest and snowiest days of winter, the heat in Nico and Rachel's apartment can and will most definitely stop working. <br> )

Beware of fic spam on my journal some time this week. I've got a couple fics I need to repost over here, and a couple that I'm hoping to finish sometime soon... if my ridiculous work schedule this week permits me to, anyway.

Also, while I have your attention, [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon, a community that promotes female centric fic/art/meta/whatever in fandom, is going on throughout the first part of February. Check it out and submit some content!

4. A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole
5. The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder
6. On A Dark Wing by Jordan Dane
7. Wither (Chemical Gardens #1) by Lauren DeStafano
8. Red Glove (Curse Workers #2) by Holly Black
9. Overbite by Meg Cabot

Thoughts on books )

Currently reading: The Death Cure by James Dashner. It really doesn't say much for a series when I hate almost all the characters and am just reading it for the creepy nightmare fuel the author provides, does it? Oh well, should finish this up by the end of the week. And also, thanks to whoever on tumblr who spoiled bits of it for me. I REALLY APPRECIATED THAT.

Up next: I have a pile of books from the library to get through and several on my Nook I need to read too... if I decide to plug it in. I've got Wildwood, Going Bovine, the first two books in The Vampire Diaries and a couple others. Hopefully I'll get through those before all the good books start coming out in February and March!

I'm sorry I'm being shit at responding to comments/being alive/coordinating fandom related things this month. With working two jobs and roller derby essentially becoming a third job, a lot of fandom related stuff keeps slipping my mind and most of the time when I get home, I just want to veg out and relax with an ice pack on some part of my body.

I swear I am reading your entries and fics and comments, even if I don't respond back for a while and I really do appreciate everyone who comments. I'm trying to be better organized and more prompt about responding and keeping on top of deadlines, so hopefully you'll see some improvement soon.

Dreamwidth: I have no intentions of using my DW account as anything more than a back-up until it becomes clear that much more of fandom is migrating over there.

Tumblr: I use tumblr daily, though for fic purposes, it's mostly for posting snippets and promoting rather than hosting.

I have an AO3 account, but I've only uploaded one fic there, so I won't bother to link it until I actually use it more.

74. The Name of the Star (Shades of London #1) by Maureen Johnson
75. Cloaked by Alex Finn

Thoughts on Books: Skipping the in-depth analysis since it's the last post of the year, but books I'd recommend immediately from this batch are Breadcrumbs, Anna and the French Kiss/Lola and the Boy Next Door and The Name of the Star.

Fell short of my goal to read 100 new books this year, but I did read more than last year, so yay! I'm going to aim for 100 again next year, and I don't think it should be problem.

Currently reading: Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris.

Up next: Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, although I may have to go page through Beautiful Creatures first to remember what happened. I have this wonderful thing called a library card now so I'm finally going to go pick up all the books I wanted to read but not buy.

Books of 2011 I'm excited for: Way too many of them? Let's see, Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver, Spellbound by Rachel Hawkins, Hallowed by Cynthia Hand, Bitterblue by Kristen Cashore, Out of Sight, Out of Time by Ally Carter, Kane Chronicles #3 by Rick Riordan, The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan, and a bunch more.
