Only one more month!
Sep. 14th, 2010 04:19 amThe official website for The Lost Hero has gone live with a trailer for the book and a couple of character profiles (although one is actually a place profile, whatever). Plus there's cool art of the new characters under "Extras." I like Piper's best, even if we can't see her face, lol.
( Spoiler cutting just because I should )
eta: The profiles for Jason, Leo, Piper and Hera can be accessed manually. Thanks to
spellcoats for pointing that out!
( Profiles and speculation under here )
yet another edit: CAN WE ALSO CELEBRATE THE FACT THAT THIS SUCKER IS ALMOST 600 PAGES LONG?

You are not prepared
Aug. 30th, 2010 07:39 pmI spent a good chunk of my weekend reading this: Mark Reads Harry Potter.
Reading his commentary on the series is hilarious, first of all, but it also just reminds me how much I love those books. Every chapter he goes through takes me back to when I first started the series (which, holy fuck, was eleven years ago when i was ten, i am so old) and how utterly mind blowing all the twists and turns were the first time around. And it's just exciting waiting for him to post a new chapter reaction because he doesn't know what's coming and half the greatness of getting new people to read Harry Potter (or any series) is waiting for their OMGWTF reaction during the good parts and then squeeing with them.
...I need more HP icons.

And we've got our title, folks
Apr. 14th, 2010 08:18 pmThe Heroes of Olympus, Book One: The Lost Hero
New Camp Half Blood series drops October 12. (Yes, I said drops unironically. Get over it.)
I shall now post a .gif which appropriately express my glee:

Am still bothered by the repeat of "hero" in the title though

New friend, ahoy!
Dec. 23rd, 2009 12:32 amSo, after countless weeks of enduring my badgering and whining, my fandom BFF Icy Roses finally went and made herself a LiveJournal account:
from_elysium.
She said she probably won't ever use it, but whatever. I KNOW WE CAN CHANGE ALL THIS. EVENTUALLY. GO MAKE HER FEEL NICE AND WELCOME, F-LIST.

ETA: This clip, which aired on Cartoon Network sometime last night, also has a couple different clips around the 1:40 and 1:54 sections, which include a full-body shot of Medusa!

Kayne West: THE MEME
Sep. 14th, 2009 10:20 pmOkay, so Kayne interrupts Taylor Swift and inadvertently created one of the best memes EVAH. Some of my favorites:

( And two more under the cut... )
There's also one version with Patrick Swayze that's trending on twitter, but I'd feel bad for posting it. Even worse then I did for laughing at it.

Tonight, tonight
Aug. 25th, 2009 07:55 pmI...I kind of love this. Russell Brand's section is hilarious.
Now I need to watch "West Side Story."
Aerosmith coverage!
Aug. 5th, 2009 03:13 pmSteven Tyler in downtown Sturgis yesterday.
I'll be live blogging the Aerosmith concert at the Buffalo Chip Campground here and tweeting throughout the night. The concert doesn't start until 10:30 GMT, but all the coverage will be up there the next morning!
They're expecting the biggest crowd in South Dakota history, which means it's going to be a blast. :D
Because I'm a girl who loves EXPLOSIONS
Jul. 2nd, 2009 06:16 pm"John Scalzi Rates SciFi Movies by Their EXPLOSIONS" seems highly appropriate.
This one is my favorite:
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)
Yes, The Empire Strikes Back was the best-written and directed of the original trilogy, but on the explosion front, it was, shall we say, underwhelming. (TIE fighters? An Imperial walker? A power generator? Weak sauce.) Not so with Jedi, which blows up Jabba's yacht, a shield installation, Imperial cruisers, dozens upon dozens of fighter ships, yet another Death Star, and -- critically -- at least one Ewok. Really, this is a high point, if not the high point, in science-fiction exploderation. The explosion-special-effects people should get an Oscar -- THAT EXPLODES.
And this reminds me, I need to watch Independence Day sometime this weekend, even though I'm sure FX will be playing it nonstop.

More than meets the eye!
Jun. 26th, 2009 11:13 pmAll right, so I know the f-list has probably been waiting for me to post this...
