I'm thinking about switching fics for my
pjo_bigbang because Medius keeps getting stalled at a kind of important part and a fic I started working on on the side finally grew some legs and is begging to be written now.
Initially, I was worried the second fic wouldn't hit the 15K minimum, but I'm at 5K now and haven't gotten to the most important bits yet so I think that's a good sign. I'm writing it a bit out of order too - got the beginning and ending almost finished, plus the starts of a couple more middle scenes, so my enthusiasm for it may just die down after all the fun scenes get written.
The second fic is a historical AU at a boarding school... with mermaids. Or merboys, more specifically. Yes, my brain has been on crack for a couple of months now. Possibly caused by this piece of fanart. That's really the only explanation I have for this:
I like both of them, so I guess I'll see which one I finish first?
Also, yaaaay new Futurama tonight! Hopefully my roommates decide to shut up before then otherwise I will Not Be Pleased.
And, um, have some Percy/Annabeth deleted scene. With the infamous "you drool when you sleep" line which should have never been cut in the first place because it is AWESOME. Could do without the awkward Annabeth at the end though.

“So would you like to know how I breathe or not?”
In spite of herself, Annabeth nodded eagerly, and Percy leaned even farther forward into her personal space, like he was going to share a very important secret with her. A prickle of excitement ran through her as his breath fanned her cheek, a large part of her delighting in the impropriety of it all.
“I have both, although I only truly need my lungs. Because I'm half god, I would be able to breathe underwater without the gills, but I think father thought it'd be good if I had a functioning pair. Just in case.”
“Hmm,” Annabeth mused, examining his neck carefully. “So if you have gills, where are they? I've never seen them before.”
Percy reached up and instead of touching his neck like she had expecting, she felt his fingers trace along the skin of her neck, just above the collar of her dress.
“Here,” he said, fingertips stopping just under the corner of her jaw. “That's where they are. They aren't very visible, and they might have looked like wrinkles if you'd seen them before.”
Annabeth nodded, although she was hardly concentrating on what Percy was saying. All of her attention was focused on the warm press of his fingers against her neck. She'd never been touched like this before, and as innocent as it was, she couldn't help the way her heart pounded in her chest and the flush, heady feeling that spread over her skin. Perhaps this was why the school marms had warned them all against being alone with men, so they wouldn't know what it was like to be alive and feeling something other than the burden of a woman of station.
Percy's hand did not move after he had finished explaining this to her, and Annabeth became aware of the way he was looking at her, like she was some inexplicable treasure he had just discovered. He inched closer to her, until their breath was mingling together and she could see every last detail of his handsome face.
“Percy,” she whispered, just because she had to. “What are you doing?”
Annabeth might have been inexperienced with these sort of things, but she was not an idiot. She knew what was on his mind and she had been craving this sort of reaction from him for a very long time. Percy had always seemed so far removed from such behavior and now that he was finally showing some interest, she had to know why.
“I've always wondered,” Percy said, his eyes bright and clear, “what it'd be like to kiss a human girl.”
I like both of them, so I guess I'll see which one I finish first?
