Chapter Twenty has been uploaded to fanfiction.net.

Would type more, but I have to go get ready so I can go see the high school production of West Side Story tonight.

Chapter Twenty is here!

Sorry I didn't send it to you ahead of time, Lara, but you got to preview the other fic, so don't complain!

This'll probably be my last entry for a week or so, but seeing as though I post sporadically anyway, it really doesn't make a difference.

I'm not quite sure if my dad's bringing his laptop along for the ride. I mentioned it to him again on Saturday and dropped hints about the questionable battery power, but he really didn't answer me. Plus, I disappointed him yesterday by not trying out for softball again, so he might not take it along just to spite me.

Last night I finished the majority of Chapter Twenty. There's about five paragraphs of filler I still have to write in Sirius's scene, but I'm pretty much down to the last, incredibly important (and long) scene. Even if I don't have a laptop, I'm going to try and have this scene written longhand by the time I come back so all I have to do is roll it into the story.

I'm also printing off what I have so I can edit it on the way down. It's going to be frustrating, editing and not being able to fix it on the computer!

Ah, well. I need to get ready for school.

Here's something to tide you over while I'm away.

Edit: And since I suck at cuts and it's too early in the morning, I'm just going to leave the raw contents out.

“Muh – Muh – Mr. Black, sir!” his exclamation was loud and Sirius winced. The stairwell quieted and the balding English passenger standing next to him stiffened. “What…What are you doing here, in steerage?”

The practice of “slumming” was quite common among his peers, who thought the steerage passengers were too dull to tell the difference

“That’s none of your concern, I think,” Sirius responded, gulping. Though his tone was quiet, his voice echoed ominously throughout the stairwell. “Do you mind opening the gates? I’ve had about enough of White Star Line’s so-called service tonight.”

“Y – Yes! Certainly, sir!”

Sirius felt a stirring of relief in his belly. He glad for once that throwing around his name and status was a benefit to others and not an embarrassment to himself.

The relief, however, lasted only a moment.

Sirius glanced at the balding man next to him. Instead of looking relived or even grateful, the man glared hatefully at him. He looked around, noticing the other passengers were glaring similarly or sharing a contemptuous whisper. Sirius couldn’t understand why, until the steward spoke again.

“Here, move aside, you! Step back, we need to let a first class passenger through!”

They were opening the gates, but they were only going to let him through.

Only him.

A great wave of indignation ripped through Sirius and, gripping the gate tight in his grasp, he demanded, “What are you doing?”

The steward stopped mid-wave, surprised once again.

“I – I’m opening the gates, sir, just like you – ”

“You’re only opening the gate for me.”

The stairwell seemed even more cramped than before – he could hear every baited breath from those behind him, he could feel all the eyes focused on the back of his neck.

“Yes. That’s what you requested, isn’t it?”

“No,” Sirius said slowly, making sure he got the point this time. “I asked you to open the gate for everyone.”

The steward looked over his shoulder at his two lackeys, both of whom shrugged their shoulders. Sirius caught balding man’s shoulders soften just a bit out of the corner of his eye.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Black, sir,” the steward said, turning back. “I have my orders…I’m not to open the gates until the captain gives the command.”

The usual

Finally, it's happened.

The huge drawer under my television set containing all of my notebooks, scraps of paper, folders, and napkins from my entire writing career (except the ones Lara stole from me) has become too full and will not hold any more. I think I have over twenty notebooks in there - I haven't counted in a while, but it's full and I need to make an executive decision.

Do I throw away some of my notebooks or find another place to hide them?

I think I could probably find a place to put the half-empty, I'm-never-gonna-use-you-because-I-wrote-embarrassing-things-on-the-cover notebooks - because it would such a waste to toss them - but I don't know where to put them. I have way too much stuff in my closet and I just threw out a box that had been sitting there for ages.

Gah.

Why are such things like finding a place to put your old, completely mortifying fan fictions so complicated?

Also, got in trouble with the good old 'rents today because my grades aren't up to scratch. They're upset because my GPA dropped from a 3.5 to a 3.33333 and I may be facing limited computer and TV time in the future, heaven forbid. I really don't see the issue about having four Bs and two As. Sure, I've never had more than one B on my report card prior to junior year (insert hysterical sobbing here), but Bs are GOOD.

At least I managed to get my Chemistry grade up to a B instead of a C, right? Apparently, they just noticed now that I've had a B in Spanish III for the past three quarters 'cause I got bitched out for that too. The B in Grammar Workshop was a sore spot too - "Oh, but this is YOUR area, Jessica! What happened to your A?" Admittedly, I was a bit disappointed with that grade too, but it's Mr. "I-Give-Out-Four-Hundred-Point-Tests-One-Hundred-Of-Those-Points-Being-Diagramming-Hugely-Complex-Sentances-That-I've-Never-Shown-You-How-To-Do-Properly" Winter.

I figure I'll do better on the test tomorrow...It's over TENSES. Pah. How hard can that be?

Oh, yeah. I decided to updated Nothing on Earth while I wasn't being chewed out.

Enjoy.

Chapter Nineteen.

And don't think I don't know how to use the Stats viewer, because I do! I know exactly how many of you are reading my fic and aren't dropping a review! Please read and review, even though I'm a completely horribled and incompetent person who has four Bs and two As!

Progress.

Have been making extreme progress on Chapter Nineteen within the past twenty-four hours.

Nineteen currently has seven pages and probably will have eight or nine by the end of the night, if I'm lucky and my inspiration holds.

Am very happy about the way it's turning out.

Fleshed out a couple of early scenes and realised that I was being inconsistant again, so I had to change a couple of things.

Currently am working on an nserted James scene that wasn't really supposed to be there in the first place. Need to seriously change the scene following that one because it contradicts an earlier scene I just rewrote.

Am not using subjects in my sentances because I need to preserve my creative energy or whatever the hell I want to call it.

If lucky, Nineteen might, might, mightmightMIGHT be done by the end of the week.

IF LUCKY.

Realising, once again, I am a complete and utter dork...

Be proud! I added another page onto Chapter Nineteen today! That being said, I also will most add three pages onto the jumble that is my Pirates of the Caribbean fan fic, but hey...I'm writing, right?

*winning grin*

I've now recovered from the shock of qualifying for Nationals in debate, though I still have hysterical bouts of disbelieving laughter from time to time. (Thanks for the congratulations, _silent_wishes, and sorry for not responding to comments - I'm such an incredibly lazy ass.) Seeing as though we've proven ourselves worthy, Kallis is now letting us compete at state and I have this weekend to write two cases about big box retailers. *eye roll* At least it's not as completely mundane as the NBA dress code topic.

I also need to re-write my National History Day paper AGAIN this weekend. I had it finished, but now Haar says I need to have the actual pentagon papers sourced in my paper and because I have four hundred words left until the limit, he wants me to add more. He also wanted me to check out about four more books on the subject and read them over the weekend so I could add even MORE to my paper (after I spent Thursday night cutting everything out of it), but I don't care and I'm not going to do it. I'll write a paragraph about the pentagon papers and even source them, but I am THROUGH with looking for more evidence. I think my paper is strong enough the way it is and if Mr. Haar doesn't like it, that's fine with me.

Anyway, enough with my bitching and complaining.

Scene from Chapter Nineteen )

I figure I need to reassure my reading base that I'm still writing, so above is a scene (more like HALF the chapter, HAHA...er...right, not kidding...) and here is me begging for forgiveness for being so lazy and ignoring this fan fic. I won't have it finished by the end of February (since, you know, it's in like three days), but I'll have it finished soon. That's about as much as I can promise right now.

....

So, do we have any Pirates of the Caribbean fan fic readers in the house? : ) Well, even if we don't, I'll still going to post a chunk of the chunks that I'm trying to string into a story. I think writing this story in pieces is easier than trying to write it all out  in sequence, simply because all my ideas are changing faster than they did for Nothing on Earth, though that fic has come a long way from what I first thought up two years ago.

Anyway, here's a small portion of what I have for the PoTC fic. It's not edited and might never appear in the actual fic when I get around to writing it, considering I just had a new idea for the beginning, but I do like this scene, so...eh...yeah.

I like expanding my horizions...

Bloody lucky Will... )

Eh. So that's that.

Later.

January 3, 2006, marked the two year publication anniversary of Nothing on Earth!!!

I'd like to thank the 4735 of you who at least looked at my terrible excuse for a fan fic since the last time FFnet reset the Stats viewer, the 261 of you that took the time to leave me a review and made my day for the past two years, the 14 kind souls that decided that Nothing on Earth was worthy enough to be put on their C2 listings, the 117 who have me on their favorites list, the 53 users who want to be alerted when I decide to get off my lazy arse and type, and everyone else who read and enjoyed my writing!!!

I'm so happy that I'm using excessive punctuation!!!

Thank you so much for making my fic a success because, really, I thought it was going to crash and burn from the start. But thank you and I hope you stick around for the ending!

Since it's a snow day, I actually had time to do all the formatting needed for Chapter Eighteen and I uploaded it to FFnet when I wasn't shovelling four inches of wet snow out of driveway.

Remember what I said about loving snow? Well, I hate it now.

Anyway, enjoy the new chapter. I can't wait for responses!

Fic Update

I finally got off my butt and worked on Chapter 12 last night. I could've gotten it completely finished, but the last scene is really complicated and I didn't want to rush it until I had some idea of what I was going to do with it. Anyway, here's the stats.

Chapter Length: 12 to 13 Pages.
Scenes thus far: Six.
POV's thus far: Remus, James, Bill Weasley, Petunia, Lily, Sirius. Lily's first POV was taken out because it slowed the chapter down and didn't flow well with her second POV.
Remaining scenes/stuff to do: There's one scene left to write. It's between Lily and James and it's the most important scene of the chapter. It shouldn't taken too long to write because I have quite a bit of it planned out and already written on paper.
Possible finishing date: I'm guessing I'll be finished before Friday, but it won't be posted until I recieve it back from my beta, so we'll shoot for next Monday and see what happens.
Reason for delay: Activites and laziness, mostly.
Cookies/Snippets: None again. Sorry. :( I'm at school and taking precious time away from homeroom to write this. Don't have my chapter with me once again.

Hmmm

Live journal is REALLY not impressing me right now. I tried to change my layout colours (I figured since my username is greenconverses it should be green, but that didn't look so hot) and settings around a bit and I keep getting error messages or it's not done RIGHT. Gah. Sometimes I really despise technology.

Anyway, I was going to change the title of my journal to Otherwise known as my ramblings, ravings, and fic talk. I decided that I would get more use out of this journal if I used for a place to put up progress reports or cookies from my Harry Potter fic, Nothing On Earth, instead of using it to complain about the people I dislike or how horrible my Algebra 2 homework (logarithms! GAH!) was today. I have a bad tendency of not updating for a couple of months and I think my readers would like to what's taking me so long to write. Plus, with the comment area, my readers can give me feedback on anything I post or I can interact better with them than on FFnet.

So, here's the first progress report (hopefully!) of many.

Chapter length: Ten and a half pages
Scenes thus far: Five
POV's thus far: Remus, Lily, James, Bill Weasley, Petunia
Remaining scenes/stuff to do: There's about two to three scenes/POVs left to write and they're the most important ones. I've been planning these scenes out for a while, however, so they shouldn't take to long to finish up with.
Possible finishing date: I'm going to try and get this done before the end of January, which looks pretty much impossible now, seeing as though there's a debate tournament this Friday. Crap.
Reason for delay: Well, I took a week off to write a Lily/James one shot and then I just got rather lazy, as usual, and just spaced off. I did write during my spare time during school (which I'm doing more and more of now) and inspiration has struck me once again, probably because I'm nearing the part of the chapter I really want to write.
Cookie/Snippet: None this entry. I don't have my Chapter 12 file with me, otherwise I would gladly put something up for my readers to...er...read!

Well, that's pretty much all I've got for this entry. My sister has been bugging me to go on my computer and I guess instead of wasting my time playing around on live journal, I should've been writing my chapter! This is why I'll never make it in the world of publishing...

P.S. I think it's horribly ironic that my layout theme is called 'Iceberg.' *grins*
