What I liked about Spoils of War.
First of all, what was there not to like about this episode? It was a great follow-up to BAMSR from last week, not only storyline-wise but emotionally too, especially in the John/Teyla relationship area. Not as action packed and twist-filled as BAMSR, but just as good.
I love Todd. I haven’t posted a review since…Missing, was it? So I haven’t squeed over Todd yet. But I loved Todd. I love that Sheppard finally named him – after the pale kid from college! Hee! He adds so much depth to the Wraith and his interactions with the team are awesome. He and McKay are science geek buddies. I’m glad he got away and I hope we see him in Season Five!
The Wraith background was nice – where the hell was this in the last three seasons, huh? I liked the explanation about how they were able to overcome Ancients, and the Wraith cloning facility. Ancients being careless seems to be a common theme on SGA.
Lorne! Lorne is always a good addition to an episode. And he has a sister! And he’s an uncle! He and Rodney can trade uncle tips!
I cannot squee enough over all the John/Teyla scenes. Squee! I loved that there was follow-up from John’s lash out in BAMSR and that John understood her drive to get out there and fight, but that he wants to protect her. The emotional connection between the two was outstanding. So. Many. Scenes! SQUEE!
The groveling scene was great, especially after the locker room confrontation. Ronon yanking Rodney out of the locker room was awesome, ha! And two hugs? In one season? It’s a belated Christmas present! I think Alan McCollough deserves cookies for the rest of his life for all the J/T in this episode.
Finally – TEYLA. She was so great in this episode. You know, for all the moaning and groaning that was done about Teyla’s pregnancy storyline before Season Four aired, I’m glad that the writers decided to go for it, if only because of this episode. Her interaction with the Wraith Queen would simply have been a repeat of Submersion had she not been pregnant and the extra risk of the baby added to the emotions. I loved the way they presented the Queen vs. Teyla scenes, and that they did something different by allowing Teyla to take over her body.
The whole risking the baby bit was beautifully done. Rachel Luttrell’s performance during the last scene nearly had me in tears. Hopefully the Teyla scenes keep up with the rest of the season – she’s supposed to be heavy in the coming episodes!

All your points - ditto for me. I think this is by far my most fav ep this season next to Missing. So much JT on all the emotional levels. And when Teyla reveals that her child is a boy you can almost see John beaming as though it was his.

I can't wait to see Kindred.

Did you know that GW has a print of very *pregrant* Teyla w/Lorne *G* on the ep section.

It was a good episode. More emotion than I've ever come to expect from the show, which was a pleasant surprised.
