Just a couple fics from various drabble memes or challenges I've never collected and re-posted. So here they are now.

Title: Fathomless Depths
Rating: PG
Pairing: Percy/Annabeth
Prompt: the deep end

When she first meets Percy Jackson, he's nothing more than a wet, bedraggled little boy passed out on the porch of the big house. Somehow, he's got the minotaur horn in hand and he's managed to drag Grover all the way from Half-Blood Hill, but Annabeth Chase has seen plenty heroic feats over the last few years and this doesn't come close to impressing her.

He's still nameless to her when she bends down beside him and rolls him over; he mumbles something unintelligible and opens his eyes for a brief moment. Even in the dim light spilling from the big house door, she's surprised by the brilliant blue-green of this boy's eyes. It's like staring into the deep end of a pool, where the color gets darker near a bottom that seems so very far away.

She's momentarily taken aback by the depth of his eyes; she feels like she's sinking and floating all at once. It's not until they flutter close and he slumps against the porch that her head clears and she calls for Chiron's help.

She feels silly for letting some boy's eye color affect her so much; even if she does get caught up in the details, she's no daughter of Aphrodite. Everything else about him screams unextraordinary - he's just another nameless nobody who'll get lost in the shuffle of all the other nameless nobodies trying to prove themselves at camp.

Even if she never see this boy again, she thinks she'll remember him the next time she stands on the edge of the deep end of the pool, ready to leap in.

Title: Knight In Shining Armor
Rating: PG
Pairing: Percy/Annabeth
Prompt: crutches

The clack of her crutches on the wooden flooring of their apartment is quickly becoming a commonplace sound — as is Annabeth's curses of frustration every time she bumps into one of the end tables or she loses her rhythm.

"Di immortales," she mutters on her tenth pass, drawing his attention away from his laptop screen momentarily. "I didn't know this was going to be so damn difficult."

Percy allows himself a small grin. It's not that he doesn't feel sorry for her, because he definitely does, but it's always funny when Annabeth admits she's having trouble with something. It happens so very rarely, so she gets all pouty and irritable because she knows she's gonna have to give in and ask him for help eventually.

"Bet you're regretting not using the last of our nectar and ambrosia now. Just think, you have another five weeks of this," Percy says lightly as she hobbles toward him. She shoots him a vicious glare. "What? I'm just saying."

"You can just keep your opinions to yourself, Jackson," she says, tossing her crutches onto the sofa beside him and balancing precariously on her good leg. "Otherwise I won't let you carry me to the bedroom."

"Let me?" Percy laughs, closing his computer and setting it beside the discarded crutches. "Who says I want to carry you?"

Annabeth rolls her eyes. "Please. I know you've been dying to be the big manly hero and take care of me since I got out of the emergency room. I'm giving you a free pass now because my arms are tired and I just want to go lie down."

"All right, all right, if my lady insists ... "

Percy gets to his feet and sweeps Annabeth up into his arms. The bright pink cast on her leg looks ridiculous hanging over his arm, but the look on her face says he better not make a smart comment about it or she'll find some way to make him hurt.

"Hope you don't think this is gonna become a nightly thing," he mutters, glad the distance between the living room and their bedroom isn't all that far. "The manly hero of Olympus should not be reduced to the role of human crutch."

"Just think," Annabeth echoes, a satisfied smile on her lips. "You only have five more weeks of this."

Title: When The Night is New
Rating: PG
Pairing: Nico/Rachel
Prompt: New Year's Eve

The tie around Nico's neck is stifling and his sports jacket is a little too small, so the edges of his sleeves end just an inch or two above his wrists and have started to fray. Normally he wouldn't care, but he's at a Dare family party and the people who attend a Dare family party are the types that will take note of these sorts of flaws in his appearance and use them against him later. Nico's used to being the target of all sorts of physical attacks, but he doesn't quite know how to dodge these subtle, but equally as vicious, verbal attacks.

Luckily the person whose opinion he cares most about in the room couldn't give a rat's ass if his jacket sleeves are two inches sort for him.

Being judged by New York's nouveau rich wasn't the way he had planned to ring in the New Year, but Rachel had conned him into accompanying her to her parents' stuffy party at the last minute. It was own fault he was miserable, really. He just needed to get better at saying no to sultry redheads who tended to ask tricky questions when they were wearing a low-cut shirt and pouting.

He snags his second glass of champagne from a passing waiter and gives Rachel a tight smile when she glances over at him from across the room. She's wearing a soft gold dress with sequins that would look tacky on anyone else, but on Rachel, it looks simply mouth watering. Nico gets a warning glare from Mr. Dare when he catches him staring too long at Rachel's bare legs and he turns away, deciding to circle the outer rim of the room to do the one thing he's good at in social situations: stare broodingly out the windows.

It's snowing lightly, making the famous skyline an even more enchanting view than usual, and Nico briefly pities the crowds gathered in Times Square for the ball drop. He's not a big fan of cold weather or snow; it just complicates everything.

Ella Fitzgerald is crooning about how everything happens to me when Rachel joins him at the window, linking her arm through his and leaning on his shoulder.

"Sorry this party's so boring," she says, fingering the edge of his short sleeve. "I thought it'd be quick, but I'm going to be tied up playing Nice Daughter for a little while longer. You can leave if you want."

Nico snorts and glances down at her. The color of her dress makes her green eyes pop more than usual, almost making them glow like they do when she's possessed by the Oracle.

"You're not getting rid of me that easily, Dare," he says dryly. "Besides, your dad will hate me even more if I leave his daughter with no one to kiss at midnight... "

"I can assure you that he would prefer it if you did not kiss me at all," Rachel replies, a brilliant flush creeping up her neck to her cheeks. "Especially not in public and in front of his friends."

Nico takes a sip of his champagne. "That's too bad. And here I was really looking forward to Daddy Dare's parental approval for a late Christmas present."

Rachel shrugs in such a careless way that Nico knows something's bothering her. It hits him then that as much as she and her father don't get along and aren't anything alike, she still wants him to approve of her and her choices. She's a lot like him in that respect.

"There's always next year, I suppose," she says softly, turning her gaze toward the window.

Next year, which starts in less than hour and he certainly doesn't want to get off to a bad start by pissing off her dad. But he also doesn't want to leave this year behind on an unhappy note like this either...

He perks up as his ears catch the sound of a brief, familiar piano introduction and then Billie Holiday's rich voice begins flowing through the speakers.

I'll be seeing you
in all the old familiar places...

And suddenly doing the right thing to end the year isn't hard at all.

"Looks like someone bribed the DJ to play our favorite song," he says, lacing his fingers with hers. He smiles, easy and sure in ways he wasn't before he met Rachel Dare, and forgets about his stiff tie and short jacket. "Wanna dance?"

Rachel's responding smile is breathtaking and the perfect shield for any more barbs that might get thrown his way this night.

She nods and squeezes his hand.

I love Nico and Rachel, together and apart. I think they're both really interesting characters, and there's a lot of different ways a writer can go with them too. I'm hoping we see more of them in later books... especially with some more interaction so I don't feel like such a freak for shipping them, haha.
