In case you were wondering, this is how I feel about LJ's new decision to add Twitter and Facebook crossposting options to entries and comments:

Photobucket

and

Photobucket

If I wanted to share my dirty PWP with my RL friends and relatives, I would already be doing it, LJ. Now, where did I put my DreamWidth password...

annnnnnnd apparently they did something that has currently disabled all / tags

what is this fuckery, lj

Love the gif... but it's not like LJ's making it mandatory or anything.

Yeah, but it's still obnoxious change they didn't tell us about and there's no opt-out option.

Isn't the opt out just not to sign up?

But that doesn't stop other people from being able to re-post their comments on your entries to their FB/Twitter platforms. That extends to comments on f-locked entries too, from what people are saying in the news post.

It also doesn't stop Facebook users from commenting on your LJ either, unless you restrict it commenting to friends only, I suppose.

I had read on another post that locked posts are still locked. As in, they can click on it, but they're still going to get the no permission page, same as if they 'manually' linked to it before.

And I screen non-friends anyway, so it's no biggie :)

I never connected or whatever my twitter and facebook with LJ so the repost to option is there, but i can't click it...

but i agree, it sucks.

Yeah, you know, some WARNING might have been nice. Also, the default set to "Don't do this" would have also been nice; I don't have a Facebook or a Twitter, but I still have to jump through hoops (on every single account... and I have a bunch, for RP) to tell it to stop showing me options to crosspost. D<

... Wait, you mean I can't get rid of those stupid "repost" ticky boxes? I AM NOT HAPPY. D:

Actually, someone on the news post said there was an option to block them out on Firefox, but since I use Chrome...

Stupid Facebook. Icon very related.

I'm a fan of Hades, btw.

Seriously, if I wanted my mom to know about all the smut I read...well I would be a beyond fucked up head case now, wouldn't I?

I created my blog for me. And fanfic. I don't want everyone to read my entry where I chewed out my economics professor. Granted I had already turned it in to my professor, but that's not the point.

I certainly don't want people that might hire me to read it. That's why I created the other website for myself. Duh.

And, as usual, your gifs are amazing.

Love the Hades gif.

And yeah this shit is just wrong. I have a separate LJ and Facebook for a reason. At no time do I ever want the two to become one and the same.

I'm kind of surprised at all the anger targeted against something that's entirely optional. I don't get the impression that this is even meant for fandom folks. There are a lot of people who use LJ soley for writing about their personal lives and this was more meant for them so that if they wrote something long and informative about what happened to them, they could just easily let their friends know where to find it via the other networks.

Most of the anger comes from LJ's long history of making big changes and not letting it's userbase have a say in it beforehand, and not giving the option to opt-out of the new change.

And while I'm personally not going to to use the feature, I can't stop someone else from using it and posting any comments they post on my entries all over the damn place. I also don't want people using their Facebook log-ins to comment on my LJ, but the only way to do that is to restrict my commenting to friends-only and that's something I don't want to do either.

Yeah, no. Just...no. That is all I have to say, LJ. If people want to connect their journal to Facebook or Twitter, it's called posting a link. This kind of shit is the reason people worry about Internet privacy. I mean really, LJ is my personal space, and I'd like to keep it that way.

-can't see the GIF because am on phone, but is sure it's amazing-

...what you said. Honestly--and I hate to say this--I'm considering ditching my LJ account altogether. My fandom activities, which is all I have LJ for, do not mix with my real life in pretty much any way, but especially not professionally (I'm sure many of us can say the same. No one wants a would-be employer to stumble across their fanfic.) So I'm still considering, but these might be my last days of LJ.

If you'd like a DreamWidth code, I'm pretty sure I've got a bunch backlogged. You can cart all your entries over there too.

Oh, you're so sweet. Thank you for the offer. I still don't know which way I'm going to go with this. I have an account on ff.net, but...
I don't have to tell you that LJ seems to offer more of an, ahem, nuanced perspective on writing. Something to consider over the next few days, I suppose.

So stupid. I completely agree, if I WANTED my RL friends to know the things I say and do on here, I would tell them. STOP TRYING TO CONNECT ME, INTERNET!

Hades, you perfectly express my feelings, as always.

Hi there :) Found you randomly while searching for users with similar interests to me. "The Hunger Games" was our mutual interest :) I'm new to dreamwidth and looking for friends.

And that Hades gif is epic and describes my feelings exactly too.
