Wow, is it really almost October already? I can't believe time flies by that fast!

Oh, who am I kidding, waiting for this book to come out has been totally and completely painful. And we've still got one more week to go!

I've decided to compile a list of things we do know that's going to happen in the Son of Neptune, plus links to the new character profiles if you haven't seen them already, and then my BIG LONG WISH LIST of things that I want to happen in this book and/or questions I want answered.

This probably won't be the last post on SoN I'll have before the book comes out. Riordan will probably drop another, "Nico isn't going to be in this book, haha suckers!" bomb three days before it's released like he did last year, thus ensuring my eternal wrath and his place among the most trolly of authors ever. But if you feel the urge the make last-minute gif spams, drop some new news tidbits, or share your own theories, definitely make use of this post!

i. What we know so far

RSquared is a fucking troll

The Summary: This crazy messed up world of gods and monsters is Percy Jackson’s reality, which pretty much sucks for him.

Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon, God of the Sea, has woken from a very deep sleep and come face to face with two snake-haired ladies who refuse to die.

But they’re the least of his problems. Because Percy finds himself at a camp for half-bloods, which doesn’t ring any bells for him. There’s just one name he remembers from his past. Annabeth.

Only one thing is certain: Percy’s questing days aren’t over. He and fellow demigods Frank and Hazel must face the most important quest of all: the Prophecy of Seven. If they fail, it’s not just their camp at risk. Percy’s old life, the gods, and the entire world might be destroyed . . .

What we've gathered from excerpts and interviews:

- Significant time has passed since the events in The Lost Hero. Instead of the two stories happening at the same time like we thought they might, Percy gets woken up a few months after the events. Hera implies that the deadline to complete whatever quest the demigods get is on the Feast of Fortune. I couldn't find a straight out reference to the Feast of Fortune, but Fortuna/Tyche's (the goddess of fortune) feast day is June 24. That'd put the timeline almost six months after TLH ended, which was win the Greeks were planning on launching the ship, and would set up for a reunion.

- Once Percy arrives at the Roman camp, he will lose his Achilles Curse and will be forced to go through some kind of trial to prove his worthiness like the other Romans have.

- Tyson will make a re-appearance. The title doesn't necessarily refer to Percy as being the son of Neptune, so it could easily be Tyson as well. Or Percy has a Roman half-brother we get to meet, which would be totally kickass and weird at the same time.

- The demigods who will be involved with the next great prophecy will be from the Athena, Ares, Aphrodite, Hades, Zeus, Poseidon and Hephaestus cabin. This is based on the fact that RSquared's seven tour stops uses these gods (and if that's not a coincidence, I'll eat my non-existent hat).

- Based on the cover, the quest will take Percy, Frank and Hazel someplace cold and they'll probably have to look for the lost Roman standard at some point.

- Frank, Hazel or someone else is going to have the "coolest powers" out of any demigod we've ever seen before.

- SoN will be told with three rotating narrators: Frank, Hazel and Percy.

- NEW INFORMATION: According to yankeescap on tumblr, who got an early released copy of SoN, the third book in the series will be called The Mark of Athena.

ii. The characters

- Percy Jackson: hero from the last series, son of Poseidon, savior of Olympus. Currently remembers nothing of his past except for Annabeth.

- Frank Zhang: Frank's last name means "master of bows" and while he prefers bows to any other weapon, he's a master of other weapons. He has a certain "flexibility" about his form (shape shifting?). Judging by his quote, "I’m so cool, I want to date myself, but I can’t figure out how!" and other facts presented, I'm going to speculate he is an Apollo kid.

- Hazel Levesque: Hazel's from New Orleans, but moved to Alaska when she was 13. She loves riding horses, the sun, hates boats, and can manipulate dirt. Has a horse name Arion, who is a product of Demeter/Poseidon relations, and is related to a character we know well from the first series. My first thought is a Ceres/Demeter kid, but her gift with horses and the hint about her being related to someone from the first makes me think Neptune/Poseidon as well. WHAT, IT'S SPECULATION.

- Reyna: Possibly Jason's girlfriend or a close friend of his. Praetor of the 12th legion, protected by a gold and silver dog. We have yet to meet her godly parent. Seems to be in a powerful position at Camp Jupiter.

- Octavian: Creepy. Stuffed animal murderer. Will probably end up slicing and dicing Percy's panda pillow pet to divine Percy's future.

- Thanatos: God of death. Hades's right hand bro. Appears to be in chains in his picture. Percy and co. will probably have to free him in order to seal the leak in the Underworld.

- Ella: Harpy. Roman librarian. Doesn't like cheese.

iii. Theories/Speculation/What I Want Answered, Dammit

Theories/Speculation

- Percy will be reunited with the Greek camp at the end of the book. Seriously, if I have to wait another year for my Percy/Annabeth reunion, I will probably die a miserable shipper death. I CAN ONLY TAKE ANGST FOR SO LONG. (But I will put serious bets that if there's a reunion scene, RR will like cliff hang it or something because he is a TROLL)

- Because Thanatos is a key character, Nico will make an appearance. Or will at least be mentioned. Please, RSquared, you cruel god, please.

- Uh... I don't really have a lot of other theories yet? Not enough information plot-wise to start speculating beyond really obvious stuff.

Things I Want Answers To, Dammit RSquared!

- I'd really like an explanation on how the Great Prophecy from PJO played out in the Roman camp. Did the same rules apply to them as it did to the Greeks? Was Jason considered one of the forbidden Big Three prophecy kids or does he not count because he's Roman?

- How did the Second Titan War work from the Roman POV? Like what the hell was going through their heads went Kronos went to go storm Manhattan and when he was finally defeated? I almost think the Roman Camp had to know Camp Half-Blood existed or at least knew more than Greeks did about their being more than one camp of demigods. SO MANY HOLES OTHERWISE.

- Continuing in this line of questioning, did Luke/Kronos know about Jason and the Roman camp? Kronos most certainly did, and I'm sure Luke pulled some demigods from the Roman ranks as well. That would explain why there were so many demigods fighting for Kronos. But then that would be mean Luke would know about Jason and Thalia and someone write this fic already, seriously

- Midas mentioned in TLH that he thought there was an Oracle near Omaha. Does that mean there's multiple Oracles?

Since I'm a Grown Up now and have a job, I probably won't get to read SoN as fast or immediately as some other people. I'll probably have a discussion post going up at some other point as Oct. 4 draws closer and if you're going to comment or squee on that, please be respectful about spoilers. I had several people last year commenting with spoilers after I specifically asked for people not to, and it was totally annoying.

But until then, have fun and speculate away!
