Okay, having actually seen it now, I totally agree about Logan. He just absolutely captured the character of Percy, and it really was like watching Percy come to life on screen. I felt similarly about Jake Abel and Luke. I thought Alex was fine as Annabeth, but I think a combination of her acting and mostly the writing made the character not totally Annabeth.I loved Grover, but I sort of felt like Brandon T. Jackson was just playing Brandon T. Jackson.
Also, I hated that stupid law, because it takes away what I think is one of the most interesting aspects of the book--that, by and large, the gods ARE crappy parents, and they are crappy parents voluntarily. When Luke says the gods don't care about their kids, he really isn't objectively wrong, and I feel like that issue is the one that makes not only Luke's turn but also the turn of other demigods understandable and even reasonable. Even Poseidon, who is one of the most decent parents, is really not a great father to Percy for most of the series, and Percy realizes that and deals with it in his own way.
The casino scene was awesome, though. Okay, I seriously need to stop stalking your journal now. I am probably frightening you.
