pjo_fic_battle is hosting the first fic prompt battle, The Battle for Half-Blood Hill!

Prompts will be accepted from Friday, June 12 to Friday, June 19. This is my first time hosting and organizing something like this, so please go and submit a bunch to make it the best we can!

Alright, I've just left like four comments in two minutes, but anyway. I feel a little stupid about this whole thing. How does this "prompt" thing work? Like, am I supposed to write a story around this? But then your post says submit another prompt, and...what is a prompt? I am just confused in general. Please relieve me of my clumsy stupidity.

No problem! For the first week, all you do is submit prompts for people to write - you have no obligation to write fic at this stage in the games.

The set up for the prompts for this one is to pick a character, pairing, or grouping you'd want someone to write a fic about, and then a word or phrase that you'd want to be the subject of the fic.

Like, for instance, you give a prompt like "Percy/Annabeth, cake." Someone will presumably write a Percy/Annabeth fic somehow involving cake. It's pretty simple once you get used to it. I might submit some of my own prompts just so people get the general idea of what's going - I know there's a lot of people who haven't done one of these before.

Did that help? I always feel like I'm not explaining these sorts of things well enough!

Oh, okay. Got it. For some reason, I was thinking it had to be about the Battle of Half-Blood Hill, and then I was trying to think which battle that was, so I confused myself.

I will try to think of some prompts, but I am notoriously bad at coming up with ideas.

Darn, I didn't think about the challenge name being confusing. Should think about that in the future.

The prompts are usually the easy part because they can be pretty random. I usually do parts of song lyrics or something like silly like, "so-and-so, table." If you don't think too hard about them, they pop up really easy.
