Only one more month!

The official website for The Lost Hero has gone live with a trailer for the book and a couple of character profiles (although one is actually a place profile, whatever). Plus there's cool art of the new characters under "Extras." I like Piper's best, even if we can't see her face, lol.

- One of the characters that's clickable now is the effing BRONZE DRAGON from the cover. His name is Festus and he essentially Leo's PET MECHANICAL DRAGON. EEEEEEEEE.

- Hera's one of the "coming soon" profiles, so we know she's going to have a big part to play and that Riordan's playing in the lines of the original Jason myth. But will Hera be on Jason's side or is she the "mistress" talked about in the first two chapters? Also, I will LOL MIGHTILY if Jason turns out to be Hera's son because it's about time she got back on Zeus for being a cheating asshole.

- Rick repeats that we will definitely see Percy, Annabeth, Grover and others in the new series.

- The summary on the video says: "The Greeks aren't the only gods in town."

Lemme repeat that: The Greeks aren't the only gods in town

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee do you know what this means i am so excite

eta: The profiles for Jason, Leo, Piper and Hera can be accessed manually. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] spellcoats for pointing that out!

Piper

Piper's Dagger:
Proper name Katoptris, this weapon, sheathed in black leather, is the perfect tool for demigod Piper ... should she get caught in a scrap.

What does it do?
What does it do? Piper's chosen protective tool Katoptris is a ceremonial knife, useful in battle and is a symbol of power and status.

Noteworthy:
This knife was originally a wedding present to Helen of Troy, and when looked upon, can show much more than the holder's reflection.

- This sounds awesome. Also, the Helen of Troy connection makes me think daughter of Aphrodite, y/y?

Leo

Leo's Tool Belt:
On the surface, just an average tool belt, but the contents inside might just come in handy for demigod Leo.

What does it do?
When caught in battle or another sticky situation, Leo has the power to pull any average tool that comes to his mind, right out of his trusty tool belt. All he has to do is ask.

Noteworthy:
Leo's requests for his tool belt must be limited to small everyday objects, no magic items here.

- THIS SOUNDS EVEN MORE AWESOME ASDJLAJDLKASJ LEO YOU ALREADY ARE MY FAVORITE

Jason

Jason's Coin:
Stamped on one side with the picture of a battle axe, with a man's face wreathed in laurels on the other, this piece of metal may come in handy for young demigod Jason.

What does it do?
This clever chunk of change has the power to turn into a weapon, with a simple toss in the air.

Noteworthy:
Sometimes this coin turns into a lance, sometimes it's a double-edged sword ... it all depends on the flip.

- Jason's gonna be a badass. That is all.

Hera

The goddess of marriage, Zeus' better half, also known as Juno in Roman mythology.

What does she do?
She's the queen of the gods, but her power is a bit restricted at the moment, and she needs some demigod assistance.

Noteworthy:
In her Roman state, Juno is more war-like and fierce than Hera the Greek goddess. Oh, and she doesn't have any demigod children.

- I think it's interesting that Hera's profile makes the distinction between her Greek and Roman counterparts. Definitely gives credit to the theory that the Roman gods are going to be a part of the series and maybe could be the villains? Wonder what kind of trouble she's gotten in that she needs demigod assistance for...

Festus

Just your average, run-of-the-mill bronze mechanical dragon. Meet Festus, friend and chauffeur to the three young demigods.

What does it do?
Aside from fly, breathe fire, and hiss steam? He has built in seat warmers!

Noteworthy:
Festus' amazing fire power can be deadly to anyone but Leo, who is immune to the dragon's flames.

- FUCK YEAH DRAGONSSSSSS

yet another edit: CAN WE ALSO CELEBRATE THE FACT THAT THIS SUCKER IS ALMOST 600 PAGES LONG?
