Percy/Annabeth ship manifesto

My project this week is working on the Percy/Annabeth essay for [livejournal.com profile] ship_manifesto that needs to be posted Sunday. I have less than 200 words for something that's probably going to be upwards of 2,500 when finished, so yaaaay for procrastination! Good thing I've written this essay in my head, like, a million times already and spring break is next week, otherwise I'd be screwed.

But, I do need some help. There's supposed to be a fandom guide for the pairing - essentially what a new kid should read/look at - and while I have my own ideas of what to suggest, I know I've probably missed something out there. So, P/A fans on my f-list, what fanworks (fics, art, fanmixes, etc.) would you recommnd for this awesomesauce ship?

Erm, I have a few P/A recs! It doesn't matter if you use them or not, but they're here anyway:

Click, by believeinthegods. "With or Without You" would also be a notable mention, but this one is so much more recent and fluid. We're all just waiting for the final chapter!

Redux, by, um, you. But it's just too dang awesome to not mention. :/

Rewind, by [livejournal.com profile] from_elysium. You probably already have this one in mind, but, well, it's epic. So there you go.

Omnia Vincit Amor, by dnrl. Again, you probably have this one already, but just in case.

Here's How It Goes, by Mooncatcher.

Once Upon a Summer's Dream, by Strawberry Sorrows.

Argh, there should be so many more, but I just can't remember which ones. A few of these are a little iffy, so feel free to pick and choose. Can't wait to read your essay!

Good selections! I would just note that while "Click" has a fun plot and is overall written well, I find both Percy and Annabeth to be OOC at times. I think "With or Without You" is much truer to the characters.

I pretty much adore everything artemis_rae has written, so I'd add her fics to the list.

Yeah, like I said, a couple are a tad iffy, but since I can't use more of [livejournal.com profile] greenconverses' fics, I can't think of anything else!

Oh yeah, that's one of the authors I'd forgotten. Definitely [livejournal.com profile] artemis_rae too. :)

Oh, I know. It is tres difficult.
Greenconverses, I know it would seem...perhaps self-promoting/narcissistic to list your own fics, but...they're so good! Between a Rock and a Hard Place has to be one of my favorite-ever Percy/Annabeth stories. I don't see how anyone could list the "must reads" without it.

I have to second (or is it third?) this comment. How could you do a percy/annabeth ship manifesto if you don't include the queen of percy/annabeth fics [livejournal.com profile] greenconverses ?? The idea is mindblowing! The list would be incomplete if you didn't include your own work!

Aw, thank you! I'm trying to avoid putting any of my fics on the rec list at all costs and I'll probably only do it if I'm short on content otherwise. I feel like I'd be abusing the manifesto if I did put my fics on it.

[identity profile] oneoffour111.livejournal.com 2010-03-04 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Would it be more normal to just list your username rather than recommending specific fics of yours? That wouldn't seem so...self-promoting, I guess. Just, "Hey, I'm here. Ignore me or see what I have to offer." Of course, the logical choice is the second one, but it's not so in-your-face as actually listing the fics.

Thanks for those suggestions! I did have most of them on my list (except mine), but I hadn't considered using Rewind from [livejournal.com profile] from_elysium. She has several good ones I guess I just forgot about that one!

Yeah, that's my favorite one of hers. And it's true, there are quite a few to choose from!
