Thoughts on Books )

Currently reading: I might start Academy 7 by Ann Osterland today. I bought it for 99 cents at work yesterday, and it's short and a quick read, so it might not take that long.

Up next: Both The Serpent's Shadow by Rick Riordan AND Body and Soul by Stacey Kade come out Tuesday, so I'll be snapping those up and adding them to my to-reads list ASAP. Got a lot of projects due at work this week though, so we'll see if I even have time to get to them before the weekend.

What else is on my shelf: Borrowing The Book Thief, The Fault in Our Stars (not the biggest John Green fan, so it might take a while to get to this) and Going Bovine from the Artist Formerly Known As My Roommate. I'd also like to get around to reading A Handmaiden's Tale in one sitting instead of pretending to have read it and paging through it like I did for my Women's Lit class last fall.

Thoughts on books )

Currently reading: Finally got my hands on The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I'm hoping to have that finished by tomorrow night. I have to have it finished by Thursday, at least, because it's only a seven day loan from the library.

Up next: I bought Fever by Lauren Destefano during my Walmart run last night as well, and I've got Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi to read too. Borrowed Tithe by Holly Black from the library since I need me some Holly Black to fill the hole in my heart until Black Heart comes out in April. Not to mention the books my roommate, er, acquired and passed along for me to read on my Nook.

Buuuuut it might be a while until I get to those books because Spellbound (Hex Hall #3) by Rachel Hawkins and Out of Sight, Out of Time (Gallagher Girls #5) by Ally Carter come out this week. ON THE SAME DAY. Like seriously. Who thought this was a good idea? Which one am I going to read first?!

8. Red Glove (Curse Workers #2) by Holly Black
9. Overbite by Meg Cabot

Thoughts on books )

Currently reading: The Death Cure by James Dashner. It really doesn't say much for a series when I hate almost all the characters and am just reading it for the creepy nightmare fuel the author provides, does it? Oh well, should finish this up by the end of the week. And also, thanks to whoever on tumblr who spoiled bits of it for me. I REALLY APPRECIATED THAT.

Up next: I have a pile of books from the library to get through and several on my Nook I need to read too... if I decide to plug it in. I've got Wildwood, Going Bovine, the first two books in The Vampire Diaries and a couple others. Hopefully I'll get through those before all the good books start coming out in February and March!

Thoughts on Books: Skipping the in-depth analysis since it's the last post of the year, but books I'd recommend immediately from this batch are Breadcrumbs, Anna and the French Kiss/Lola and the Boy Next Door and The Name of the Star.

Fell short of my goal to read 100 new books this year, but I did read more than last year, so yay! I'm going to aim for 100 again next year, and I don't think it should be problem.

Currently reading: Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris.

Up next: Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, although I may have to go page through Beautiful Creatures first to remember what happened. I have this wonderful thing called a library card now so I'm finally going to go pick up all the books I wanted to read but not buy.

Books of 2011 I'm excited for: Way too many of them? Let's see, Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver, Spellbound by Rachel Hawkins, Hallowed by Cynthia Hand, Bitterblue by Kristen Cashore, Out of Sight, Out of Time by Ally Carter, Kane Chronicles #3 by Rick Riordan, The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan, and a bunch more.

Thoughts on the books )

Currently reading: I'll probably start White Cat by Holly Black today, and then move on to Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver.

Books I need to acquire: I told myself I wouldn't buy any new books (aside from SoN) until I made a considerable dent in my to-read pile, and so now I have a giant list of recently released books I want. Goliath by Scott Westerfeld, Bright Days by Anna Godberson, The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson, Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern and Wildwood by Colin Meloy.

I'm trying to read 100 books this year, and I've got less than three months to go through 40! Wish me luck.

Currently reading: French Lessons by Ellen Sussman. Loving it so far. Very emotional. Also still have In Cold Blood and The Scorch Trials. Idk why it's taking me so damn long to read that book.

Up next: A bunch of books. Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver, White Cat by Holly Black, Sookie Stackhouse #7... eh, I can't remember what else.

36. The Magnolia League by Katie Crouch
37. Beauty Queens by Libba Bray
38. Uncommon Criminals (Heist Society #2) by Ally Carter

Thoughts on books: I read a lot of these a while ago, so I can't remember all the fun things I wanted to say about them at the moment. But if you ask, I can probably get some fun details for you.

- I have reviews for Starcrossed, Queen of the Dead, The Magnolia League, and Beauty Queens up on my book blog.

Currently reading: The fifth Sookie Stackhouse book, The Scorch Trials by James Dashner, and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Up next: Paranormalcy, Amy & Roger's Epic Detour, Before I Fall and The History of Love.

Sooooo one of the Stargate Atlantis books I own is out of print and selling on Amazon for about $50 used. I feel like I just won the Internet lottery or something, even thought I'm probably going to lowball the hell out of it because I just want it to sell.

27. All I Want is Everything (Gossip Girls #3) by Cecily von Ziegesar
28. Across the Universe by Beth Revis

Thoughts on Books )

Currently reading: Since I have no cable AND no Internet, I might FINALLY make it through my usually bottomless to-do list. I'll probably start the Incarceron sequel or I Am The Messenger today, and then move on to the others books.

Up next: Dash and Lily's Big Book of Dares or a similar title name, and a few other to-read books on my bed.

Books I need to get: THE SCORCH TRIALS. Paranormalcy. Probably a few others? We shall see when I finally get my butt to a proper bookstore rather than WalMart and

Oh! And I might be getting an e-reader for a graduation present. I'm leaning toward the NOOKColor because OMG PRETTY, but if anyone has an e-reader they'd like to recommend, feel free to drop some thoughts in the comments!

Finished the new Kane Chronicles book on Wednesday, but I wanted to let it digest for a few days - plus, you know, I had finals to finish up.

Anyway, for those of you who read the first book in the series, The Red Pyramid, and weren't that impressed, you will be by the The Throne Fire. It was a definite improvement on the first book and I really enjoyed it.

Spoilers under the cut )

Anyone else have some thoughts to share?
greenconverses: (vintage: reading is sexy)
Books 1-17 )
18. Vespers Rising (39 Clues #11) by Rick Riordan, Peter Lerangis, Gordon Korman, and Jude Watson
19. Navarro's Promise by Lora Leigh
20. Delirium by Lauren Oliver
21. Sweet Valley Confidential: 10 Years Later by Francine Pascal

Thoughts On Books )

Currently reading: I have a bookmark in the Maze Runner and I'm supposed to read the Ghost Writer for my horror fiction class. I'll probably pick those two up tonight.

Up next: Need to read my roommate's copy of Across the Universe, as well as my handful of books still sitting by my bed.

Books I need buy/get: MEG CABOT'S NEW BOOK COMES OUT IN TWO WEEKS. I mean, what? Honestly, I'm hoping it doesn't suck. If it's the same formula as the last couple have been, I'm probably not going to pick up any of her stuff for a while again.

Also, the new Kane Chronicles comes out at the beginning of May! While I don't desperately need a new book in that series as much as I do with Heroes of Olympus, it's still a Rick Riordan book and will therefore be enjoyable, if not totally awesome.

6. The Monk by Mathew Gregory Lewis
7. Heist Society by Ally Carter
8. Oh. My. Gods. by Tera Lynn Childes
9. Hex Hall by Rachel Hawkins
10. Matched by Ally Condie

Thoughts on Books )

Currently reading: At the moment, nothing, but when I get home, I'll probably go pick up the first Gallagher Girls book.

Up next: Still have an entire stack of books to go through, among them being Sapphique, Revolution, Across The Universe, and books for class.
greenconverses: (vintage: reading is sexy)
1. Blue Moon (Midnighters #3) by Scott Westerfeld
2. The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
3. Jane by April Linder
4. Bright Young Things by Anna Godbersen
5. Vixen by Jill Larkin

Thoughts on the books )

Currently reading: The Monk by Matthew Gregory Lewis. It's a horror fiction novel from, idk, the 17th centuryish? One of my seminars revolves around horror fiction this semester, so there will be some interesting titles popping up every now and then, I think.

Up next: I literally do have a pile to go through. I'm hoping to start Heist Society tonight; I've been meaning to read that for a while, actually. Then I'll probably go on to Allie Condie's Matched and maybe some more Gossip Girls? Also The Maze Runner.
greenconverses: (vintage: reading is sexy)
Books 1-79 under the cut )
80. Fire by Kristen Cashore
81. Red Riding Hood by Sarah Blakley-Cartwright
82. Menage by Emma Holly
83. Midnighters: Touching Darkness by Scott Westerfeld

Thoughts on books )

Currently reading: Midnighters: Blue Moon by Scott Westerfeld. Only a handful of pages in, and I'll probably finish it tomorrow.

greenconverses: (vintage: reading is sexy)
Books 1-75 )
76. Kindred by Octavia E. Butler
77. Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld
78. Midnighters: The Secret Hour by Scott Westerfeld
79. Gossip Girl by Cecily von Ziegesar

Thoughts on books )

Currently reading: Nothing. ;__; I'll probably pick up a book tomorrow when I get home at some point.

Up next: Fire by Kristen Cashore and The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen. They're the last books I need to read for my thesis, so I need to get going on them. Still have the pile of books the roomie wants me to read and the books from this spring I still haven't read. Failure. I'm also waiting for Amazon to deliver my Emma Holly smut, but alas, I think it got lost in the mail. :(
greenconverses: (pjo: kronos is unamused by your shenanig)
Why is there barely any fic for Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan series? Internet, you disappoint me so.
greenconverses: (vintage: reading is sexy)
Books 1-69 under the cut )
70. Girl at Sea by Maureen Johnson
71. The Edible Woman by Margaret Atwood
72. The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan
73. Renegade by Lora Leigh
74. Ghost Town (Morganville Vampires #9) by Rachel Caine
75. Everlasting by Angie Frazier

Thoughts on Books: Most of the books were of the, "Eh," variety. Not awesomely good, but not awesomely bad or rage inspired. School kills all motivation for me to read. ;___; I'd like to have read 100 new books by the end of the year, but I don't know if that's going to happen at the rate I'm going. NEED MORE SHORT KIDS BOOKS.

Currently reading: I'm about to crack open Behemoth by Scott Westerfeld. Hopefully I'll finish that this weekend.

Up next: I need to read some of the books [ profile] mysticfushia gave me before she kills me and some books for my thesis. Other than that, it's the usual books I've had listed for months and kind of just keeping giving the side-eyed whenever I see them on my shelf.

I'm finished now, so you can hit me all with your squee or RAEG or tears of despair, whatever. As always, spoilers under the cut.

Okay, so I finally got my hands on the thing and I'm nowhere near finished at this point (I'm on page 211), but I had Some Thoughts about everything that's happened so far that I wanted to share. Again, if you've finished, please be mindful of spoilers and all that.
